DAYTIME EMMY WINNER 2019 - Outstanding Short Format Children’s Program

In 2017, Nick Jr. Brand Creative put out a call for pitches - short-format videos for preschoolers. Natalia Gonzalez (writer+producer) and I partnered to come up with Nick Jr.: Color Songs, and created a full show treatment of videos that celebrate different colors and music. It was greenlit, and we worked with animation studio Giant Ant & musicians Joleen & Joaquim to bring it to life.

As two creatives from South America, we bonded over how music can make you feel like “home”, wherever it is. We wanted to introduce and connect music, color, and culture, and I specifically wanted the art to reflect the music as it plays - synesthesia. To reinforce the lesson of color and connect with our preschool audience, the design style is a mix of kid-like handdrawn illustration and photos of familiar objects. The idea is that the preschooler is listening to music while drawing and collaging in a notebook.
